Two snow days this week!
It was the perfect opportunity for Marisol, the Spanish teacher, and I, to read The Snowy Day to the First Grade. We alternated by reading a page in Spanish, followed by a page in English. The children were a bit puzzled in the beginning, but soon began to give their own explanations of what Marisol had read before hearing me read the English version.
We asked each child to draw something he or she had done during our snow days. Each picture was labeled in both English and Spanish and hangs on our snowy bulletin board…
